Does your New Year’s resolutions for 2014 involve losing weight or getting in shape? If it does, you are not alone; these are two of the most common resolutions made each year. Unfortunately, it ends up being a resolution people make every year. Studies show that only 8% of Americans keep their resolutions throughout the year, and that over 75% fail or quit by the end of January! I believe that a large portion of the failures is due to poor planning and bad holiday habits.
Whether it’s 1, 3, 7, or 10 pounds, it is undeniable that the average American gains weight during the holiday season. But is that a surprise? During this time of year, gym attendance plummets and extra calories seem to be everywhere. If you aren’t careful, the first month of two of that New Year’s resolution to “Get in Shape” or “Lose Weight” will just counteract the holiday season weight gain and be disheartening.
