What is CBD?

Posted by Ricky Seda on 4/25/2018 to Stress Management

Cannabis sativa! You’ve most likely heard of it as the marijuana plant, which reactions to hearing that word vary greatly. Some love it for its psychoactive benefits, other dislike it greatly. But one thing that none of us can deny, is that the medical orthodoxy is looking into this plant for its positive benefits outside of its psychoactive properties.

With all of the heavy foods on top of the stress of cooking, gifts and family members, we tend to burn out quite quickly. However, the holidays don’t have to end this way!

Dandelion Profile

Posted by Kristen Baureis on 5/17/2017 to Natural Remedies
Dandelion, (translates to lion’s tooth in French) is part of the Asteraceae family. It’s native to most of Europe, Asia and northern Africa, but can grow almost anywhere in the world.

This herb is known for providing health benefits to both our bodies and the environment it thrives in. When it comes to gardening, dandelion adds minerals and nitrogen to the soil. It releases ethylene gas, which helps fruit ripen, and attracts pollinating insects.

Medicinal use of dandelion dates back to ancient times...

Homemade Face Masks and Body Scrubs

Posted by Kristen Baureis on 3/7/2017 to Natural Remedies

If you haven’t incorporated face masks or body scrubs into your beauty regimen, you might want to start! Scrubs and masks are packed with an assortment of nutrients that cleanse, exfoliate and improve blood circulation. They clean deeper than body washes or soap bars, so it’s best to use them a few times a week for a glowy, dewy complexion.

I have found a few different masks and scrubs you can make home that will restore, firm, and hydrate the skin. These are all easy to make and only you can adjust the ingredients however you see fit.

Turmeric Golden Milk

Posted by Kristen Baureis on 2/2/2017 to Natural Remedies

Turmeric milk contains medicinal properties that reduce inflammation, detoxify the body, restore the gut, and improve skin and mood (to name a few). Its versatile uses make it an excellent beverage to keep on hand whether you are getting sick or if you just want that nutritional boost for overall wellbeing.

I came across this recipe on Pinterest from Integrative Nutritional Therapies about a week ago, and I decided to give it a whirl. I wish golden turmeric milk came into my life sooner, because this drink is the bomb!

Stay Healthy this Winter with these Warm Beverages

Posted by Kristen Baureis on 1/16/2017 to Natural Remedies

The cold can unmotivated us; we hesitate to go outside, move around, and get our blood circulating. Coming from a Floridian, I don’t have too much experience with ‘”winter” but on the few days winter does decide to make an appearance, I’m bundled head to toe and prefer cuddling with my pups on the couch as opposed to taking them for a walk outside.

Winter is the time of year to nourish our body with warm food and drinks, so it’s important that we listen to our body and provide it with the proper fuel to power through the day. To help you get through these cold times, I’ve comprised a short list of warm, nutritious beverages that will protect your immunity and give you the energy boost you need.

How to Get a Peaceful Night’s Rest

Posted by Kristen Baureis on 9/12/2016 to Natural Remedies

Approximately 40 percent of U.S. adults admit to having trouble falling or staying asleep due to stress. Other culprits such as stress, technology, caffeine, sugar, children and pets can also play a role in sleep deprivation. I have had a handful of restless nights, and nothing drives me crazier than not getting any sleep as the clock inches closer to morning.

Boost Your ImmuniTEA

Posted by Kristen Baureis on 1/5/2016 to Natural Remedies
It’s that time of year when the weather is constantly changing (at least in Florida) and people are getting sick. Although I take my vitamins, exercise and eat right, my immune system weakens during the winter months. From colds to sore throats, I become tired and cranky and just want to lie in bed all day.

I used to turn to cold medicines at the drop of the hat, but I have found a natural remedy that will boost my immune system and give me the nutrients and energy I need without having to spend ten or so dollars at the nearest drug store (Note- this is just an alternative to cold and flu medicines; it’s not FDA approved but many use this remedy and it has helped them, including myself).
