Heart Healthy Exercises

February is all about heart health, so I have come up with a list of heart-pumping exercises that keep your cardiovascular system in tip-top shape.

Running

How often? One hour a week

  • reduce risk of heart disease
  • can improve good cholesterol
  • decrease inflammation


High Intensity Interval Training

How often? Few times a week

  • burn calories
  • improve cardiovascular function


Weight training

How often? More than 30 minutes a week

  • controls blood sugar levels
  • can raise metabolism
  • lowers high blood pressure


Yoga

How often? At least 3 times a week, for at least 10-15 minutes

  • reduces stress and anxiety
  • lowers blood pressure
  • helps make blood vessels more elastic
