Friday’s Feature: Pacific Resources Maunka Honey

Posted by Kristen Baureis on 9/30/2016 to Diet and Nutrition

Manuka honey comes from the Manuka bush in New Zealand. This honey contains a higher level of enzymes than regular honey, as the enzymes remain active when ingested (making it tolerant to heat). It can be used topically as well, making it an excellent antibacterial.

This medicinal honey has 4 times the nutritional content than regular honey; it’s loaded with vitamins and minerals such as amino acids, calcium, phosphorus and zinc. This honey is known to help with skin problems, sore throats, burns and digestive issues—just to name a few.

There are different strengths of Manuka, which are measured by its antibacterial properties. Look for a UMF, or Unique Manuka Factor of 10 or higher for optimal benefits.  To get the most use out of Maunka honey, it’s recommended to take 1-2 tablespoons daily.

Pacific Resources tests every batch to ensure potency, and their Manuka Honey 20+ is guaranteed to have an activity level of 20 or above with a DHA level of 300+.
