Recovery is defined as the time that is required to repair the damage that’s been done to body caused by training, competition or another form of exercise.

We should always resort to food as our main source of vitamins and minerals, but in the modern American diet, it can be difficult to meet the daily requirements when it comes to vitamin and mineral consumption. Vitamins play a vital role in every function of the body. They are essential for cell function, growth and development. Poor vitamin intake creates the perfect environment for disease to thrive, and it can affect vital functions in the body.  If we are lacking in our vitamin intake, our bodies will develop a nutritional deficiency which can be detrimental to our health.

It’s possible that you may have a nutritional deficiency without knowing so. 90 percent of Americans are deficient in potassium; 80 percent do not get enough vitamin E, and 70 percent do not consume enough calcium.

Aside from my almond oil purchase, I also bought some castor oil. Similar to almond oil, there are many uses for castor oil, such as promoting healthy bowels, moisturizer for the face and hair, relieves sore muscles, repairs split ends, etc.

I recently purchased a bottle of almond oil by Now Solutions. I have seen it sitting on the shelf passing by a few times, and I was curious to learn the benefits of using it. I was pleased with my discovery; almond oil is very nourishing for the skin, hair and overall health.

My boyfriend and I decided to change gyms this past Saturday. We have been at Planet Fitness for about a year now, and we agreed to try the You Fit off Fowler, mainly because I wanted to start taking classes (which Planet Fitness does not offer).

Last night, we took a Total Sculpt class, which lasted an hour but felt like two. Our instructor Tani turned on some hip-hop and got right down to business. We started warming up with some cardio, and the whole hour we incorporated light weights, an aerobic stepper, a mat, heavy weights and our body weight.

Vinyasa Flow

Last night, Marianne and I participated in a Vinyasa Flow at Hanaq-Prana Yoda Studio. As students trickled into class, Lorena gave a warm welcome to each of us. She asked what we wanted to work on today (for me it was my lower back) and incorporated that into our flow. She stated that vinyasa is full of ups and downs, and to ride the wave of whatever we were feeling that day.
