Attending Gasparilla this Saturday? Here’s your Survival Kit

Posted by Kristen Baureis on 1/27/2017 to Diet and Nutrition

For those who are attending the Pirate Fest this Saturday, you know it’s going to be an exciting day filled of beads, booze, pirate outfits, and lots of walking in Downtown Tampa. Pirates take this day quite seriously; many start drinking as early as 7 am and keep the party going until 2 am. Since this will be by seventh year attending, I have a good feel on how the day will go and what I’ll need to do to stay on top of my game.

Based on my past experiences, I’ve created a Gasparilla Survival Kit that will not only help you make it through the day but it might even prevent you from getting a hangover (say whaaa?).

To avoid feeling absolutely terrible later on, make sure to at least include a few items (if not all) in your Gasparilla Survival Kit:

Coconut Almond Peanut Butter Smoothie

I just ran out of Vega One’s Nutritional Shake in mixed berry so I decided to switch it up and try the coconut almond flavor. Needless to say, it tastes amazing! Vega never seems to disappoint when it comes to quality.

I love experimenting in the kitchen when it comes to nutritional shakes/protein powders, and I was eager to see what I could come up with. I made the following smoothie this morning:

Stay Healthy this Winter with these Warm Beverages

Posted by Kristen Baureis on 1/16/2017 to Natural Remedies

The cold can unmotivated us; we hesitate to go outside, move around, and get our blood circulating. Coming from a Floridian, I don’t have too much experience with ‘”winter” but on the few days winter does decide to make an appearance, I’m bundled head to toe and prefer cuddling with my pups on the couch as opposed to taking them for a walk outside.

Winter is the time of year to nourish our body with warm food and drinks, so it’s important that we listen to our body and provide it with the proper fuel to power through the day. To help you get through these cold times, I’ve comprised a short list of warm, nutritious beverages that will protect your immunity and give you the energy boost you need.

Camp Gladiator

Posted by Kristen Baureis on 1/10/2017 to Exercise

My co-worker Marianne attends Camp Gladiator, a 60 minute group fitness boot camp that is designed to test endurance, strength, agility, stamina, and speed. Since she’s an active member, she was able to give the gift of health for the holiday season, and offered me one free month of CG.

Resetting Your Body for the New Year

Posted by Kristen Baureis on 1/2/2017 to Diet and Nutrition

When it comes to holiday festivities, we tend to veer off track as far as nutrition and exercise goes. We consume foods that are high in sodium, sugar and fat which often leaves us feeling tired and sluggish. Many people strive to better themselves at the beginning of the new year through diet and exercise, but some lose motivation and fall into old habits.

Whether you are trying to bounce back into your normal routine or wanting to make lifestyle changes to your daily regimen, it’s important to reset your body so it’s prepared to make a healthy transition. Make sure to set attainable goals that aren’t too extreme; that way you will be more motivated to stick to your plan.

I have provided a list of recommended supplements to help you kick start 2017.
