Friday's Feature: Amazing Grass Amazing Meal Chocolate Infusion

Posted by Marianne Kelly on 1/29/2016 to Diet and Nutrition

I was searching the many different options for a meal replacement powder and I chose this product.  There are so many choices when it comes to what I sometimes just think of as protein powder.  When choosing a powder its important to decide what you want out of it.

Posted by Kristen Baureis on 1/28/2016 to Diet and Nutrition

My co-worker Marianne was craving Mediterranean food the other day, so we decided to check out this place down the street called Zaytoun.

Camp Gladiator

Posted by Kristen Baureis on 1/27/2016 to Exercise

Last Friday, Heather, Marianne and I started our day bright and early with some HIIT training with Camp Gladiator. Camp Gladiator is an outdoor fitness camp, and today our work out consisted of interval training, body weight strength drills and cardio.

The Many Uses of Jojoba Oil

Posted by Kristen Baureis on 1/26/2016 to Natural Remedies

I have recently started using jojoba oil (I use Now Solutions, but we carry other brands of jojoba oil too) and it’s such a versatile product! There are many ways to incorporate jojoba oil into your health and beauty routine. This plant wax derives from the jojoba plant, which is located in Arizona, southern California and northwestern Mexico. It’s been known to help with hair and skin problems, contains vitamins and is anti-fungal and anti-inflammatory.

We are so close to being finished with our water challenge! Only one more week to go.

After our third week....

Vegan (or Non-Vegan) Avocado Grilled Cheese

Posted by Kristen Baureis on 1/25/2016 to Diet and Nutrition

I tried this recipe out about a week ago, and it’s so delicious! It’s a quick meal that only takes less than 10 minutes to make.

Feature Friday - RAW Organic Green Superfood

Posted by Kristen Baureis on 1/22/2016 to Diet and Nutrition

I have used this product a few times now, and I absolutely love it! This supplement is packed with herbs, enzymes, probiotics, greens, probiotics, fruits and vegetables. I use one scoop in my smoothie every morning, and even though I put a variety of fruits and vegetables in my smoothie already, I know I am getting proper nutrition when I use this product.

Switch it up with Swiss Chard

Posted by Kristen Baureis on 1/21/2016 to Diet and Nutrition

Swiss chard is a powerful superfood—it’s packed with potassium, calcium, magnesium, copper, Vitamins A, C and K. It also contains a wide range of antioxidants, including polyphenols, betalains and carotenoids. These help fight inflammation, free radical damage and disease (like diabetes).

Hot Yoga

Posted by Kristen Baureis on 1/20/2016 to Exercise

Last night, Heather, Marianne and I participated in a hot yoga class at Hanaq-Prana Yoga. As we walked into the studio, the lights were dimmed, soft music was playing and I was ready to get my sweat on.

When I first entered the studio, it felt a little warm but I thought it would be a slightly hotter. Then, after about 10 of 15 minutes warming up, I could definitely feel the heat.

Banana Walnut and Protein Pancakes

Posted by Kristen Baureis on 1/18/2016 to Diet and Nutrition

Banana Walnut and Protein Pancakes

I am not much of a pancake person, but I was really in the mood for (vegan) pancakes the other day. I came across this recipe on Pop Sugar and tweaked it a bit to fit my own needs.

Water Challenge: Week 2 Review

Posted by Kristen Baureis on 1/18/2016 to Diet and Nutrition

We are officially halfway done with our water challenge, and we are starting to notice other ways that drinking a gallon of water a day has benefited us.

Friday's Feature: Vital Planet Pet Probiotics

Posted by Kristen Baureis on 1/15/2016 to Vitamins, Herbs, and Minerals

I started giving my dog vitamins a few months ago.  I believe that my dog’s health is just as important as my own, and I want him to live a long and happy life, especially since my dog loves to eat anything he can get his paws on (like the trash, my food off the counter, his toys...etc.).

Kettlebell Workouts

Posted by Kristen Baureis on 1/13/2016 to Exercise

I recently purchased a kettlebell, and I absolutely love it! Although they are a little on the pricey side, they are totally worth the investment. Kettlebells are great for working the entire body, or if you want to target a specific area, there are exercises for the arms and shoulders, legs and glutes, and core.

Ginger Remedies, Hacks & Snacks

Posted by Kristen Baureis on 1/12/2016 to Natural Remedies

Since today is Kiss a Ginger day, I decided to talk about ginger, and all the little hacks you can use ginger for. Ginger can be used as a muscle soother, cramp reliever and for nausea and digestive issues.

Water Challenge: Week 1 Review

Posted by Kristen Baureis on 1/11/2016 to Diet and Nutrition

We documented how we've felt during the first week of the water challenge, and what changes we have noticed 8 days in (and what we haven’t noticed a change in). We have all had a similar experience, but we can all agree on one thing: countless trips to the bathroom.

Eggplant Pizza

Posted by Kristen Baureis on 1/11/2016 to Diet and Nutrition

Not being able to consume any animal products for a month has given me the opportunity to explore new foods and recipes. I wasn’t going to let a craving for pizza stand in my way, so I decided to put a vegan twist on this traditional dish.

Vegan Challenge

Posted by Kristen Baureis on 1/7/2016 to Diet and Nutrition

Before the start of the new year, I decided that I am going to cut chicken out of my diet completely, and become a pescatarian. I normally don’t consume a lot of meat as it is; I eat chicken and fish a few times a week but I mainly consume vegetables, fruits, grains and eggs (and sometimes cheese). However, my plans took a drastic turn on New Year’s Eve.

Sick Yoga

Posted by Kristen Baureis on 1/6/2016 to Exercise

Since I am under the weather this week, I need to take it easy on my work outs. I haven’t had a lot of energy to go to the gym, so I have been doing a bunch of yoga at home. Thanks to YouTube, I was easily able to find videos that will not only exercise my body, but alleviate my symptoms as well. I listed some yoga videos for you to try when you're feeling a little down, and hopefully they will give you the energy and strength you need to help ward off whatever illness you may have.

Boost Your ImmuniTEA

Posted by Kristen Baureis on 1/5/2016 to Natural Remedies
It’s that time of year when the weather is constantly changing (at least in Florida) and people are getting sick. Although I take my vitamins, exercise and eat right, my immune system weakens during the winter months. From colds to sore throats, I become tired and cranky and just want to lie in bed all day.

I used to turn to cold medicines at the drop of the hat, but I have found a natural remedy that will boost my immune system and give me the nutrients and energy I need without having to spend ten or so dollars at the nearest drug store (Note- this is just an alternative to cold and flu medicines; it’s not FDA approved but many use this remedy and it has helped them, including myself).

Berry Superfood Smoothie

Posted by Kristen Baureis on 1/4/2016 to Diet and Nutrition
Smoothies are one of my absolute favorite drinks! I make one every morning for breakfast; I switch up my ingredients everyday so I get a variety of nutrients (and so I don’t get bored). The possibilities are endless, but I’ll share one of my favorite recipes as well as what essential supplements I put in my smoothies.

30 Day Water Challenge

Posted by Kristen Baureis on 1/4/2016 to Diet and Nutrition

Today, the marketing department is starting off the New Year with a water challenge. The three of us will each be consuming one gallon of water every day for 30 days.

Each week, we will be documenting our journey and tracking our progress based on energy levels, skin (acne/hydration/dark circles, etc.), urine and bowel movements, bloating, cravings and possible weight loss.
