Stay Healthy this Winter with these Warm Beverages

The cold can unmotivated us; we hesitate to go outside, move around, and get our blood circulating. Coming from a Floridian, I don’t have too much experience with ‘”winter” but on the few days winter does decide to make an appearance, I’m bundled head to toe and prefer cuddling with my pups on the couch as opposed to taking them for a walk outside.

Winter is the time of year to nourish our body with warm food and drinks, so it’s important that we listen to our body and provide it with the proper fuel to power through the day. To help you get through these cold times, I’ve comprised a short list of warm, nutritious beverages that will protect your immunity and give you the energy boost you need.

Hot Water with Lemon

I like to drink this right when I wake up in the morning, but you can also drink this before each of your meals. Lemon water helps wake up your digestion, and it also detoxifies the body, improves insulin resistance and revamps your skin and energy levels.

Coconut Oil and Matcha with Peppermint Stevia

I usually start my mornings with this drink or the hot water with lemon. Matcha and coconut oil improve digestion, up the calorie burn, increases memory/concentration and boosts immunity and energy. I also add peppermint stevia for flavor, and I have this at least 30 minutes before I eat breakfast. This drink helps me wake up and prepare my mind and body for the day without any jitters. This is also good to drink before your work out.

Orange Carrot and Ginger Hot Smoothie

I just came across this recipe; I’ve never tried a “hot” smoothie before but I am intrigued! This smoothie is packed with vitamins A and C, potassium and fiber. It’s perfect to keep your immune system in check and it also has some iron and calcium too. This would be great for breakfast, or as a pick me up in the afternoon.

Golden Turmeric Milk

This is another recipe that’s on my “to-do” list. Turmeric milk has amazing health benefits; its antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties help with headaches, joint issues, skin problems, blood circulation and estrogen metabolism. It’s also a great source of healthy fats. Try sipping on this soothing beverage before bed.
