Goat Yoga

Two Saturdays ago, I took a goat yoga class with my boyfriend and old co-worker, Marianne at Hat Trick Ranch. I first heard about goat yoga on Facebook, from a farm in Oregon. It looked like something I’d love to try, but Oregon was slightly out of my reach, and there was a huge wait list.

When I found out there was goat yoga near my town, I knew I had to sign up right away!

There’s nothing more refreshing then dipping in the pool on a hot summer day. As kids, there was nothing happier than spending time in the pool with my friends and siblings during summer break.  As soon as our bodies made contact with the water, we’d transform into mermaids, setting out on our next adventure. YouFit - Total Sculpt

My boyfriend and I decided to change gyms this past Saturday. We have been at Planet Fitness for about a year now, and we agreed to try the You Fit off Fowler, mainly because I wanted to start taking classes (which Planet Fitness does not offer).

Last night, we took a Total Sculpt class, which lasted an hour but felt like two. Our instructor Tani turned on some hip-hop and got right down to business. We started warming up with some cardio, and the whole hour we incorporated light weights, an aerobic stepper, a mat, heavy weights and our body weight.

Vinyasa Flow

Last night, Marianne and I participated in a Vinyasa Flow at Hanaq-Prana Yoda Studio. As students trickled into class, Lorena gave a warm welcome to each of us. She asked what we wanted to work on today (for me it was my lower back) and incorporated that into our flow. She stated that vinyasa is full of ups and downs, and to ride the wave of whatever we were feeling that day.

Since Heather and I are doing all these squats, my legs and glutes are getting firmer and more toned. My arms tone fairly easily; I’ve never had a problem with them. My core on the other hand, even though I switch up my ab workouts frequently, is stubborn when it comes to obtaining muscle.

I came across this fitness post this morning that demonstrated different oblique exercises. I am always looking for new work outs, and since I’ve hit a plateau, it’s important that I change up my routine.

Hot Yoga

Last night, Heather, Marianne and I participated in a hot yoga class at Hanaq-Prana Yoga. As we walked into the studio, the lights were dimmed, soft music was playing and I was ready to get my sweat on.

When I first entered the studio, it felt a little warm but I thought it would be a slightly hotter. Then, after about 10 of 15 minutes warming up, I could definitely feel the heat.

Kettlebell Workouts

I recently purchased a kettlebell, and I absolutely love it! Although they are a little on the pricey side, they are totally worth the investment. Kettlebells are great for working the entire body, or if you want to target a specific area, there are exercises for the arms and shoulders, legs and glutes, and core. 

Sick Yoga

Since I am under the weather this week, I need to take it easy on my work outs. I haven’t had a lot of energy to go to the gym, so I have been doing a bunch of yoga at home. Thanks to YouTube, I was easily able to find videos that will not only exercise my body, but alleviate my symptoms as well. I listed some yoga videos for you to try when you're feeling a little down, and hopefully they will give you the energy and strength you need to help ward off whatever illness you may have.
